About The Awards

These inspirational Awards were established in memory of the late Richard Davis who had started planning for his future before his fatal race fall in 1996.

Judged by a panel of independent judges, JETS Trustees and IJF Almoners, the Awards highlight what an important role JETS plays in encouraging and helping jockeys develop the skills required for a range of new careers, not only once they have retired but importantly whilst they are still riding. The entries are judged according to the initiative, forethought, effort and determination put into their career development.

AWARD CATEGORIES

The Jockey Club Achievement Award: recognising former jockeys who have demonstrated significant achievement, commitment and sustained progression in their chosen career beyond racing. £3000 to the winner, plus two £500 runner-up prizes. DOWNLOAD ENTRY FORM

IJF Enterprise Award: a new Award for 2026, recognising a jockey who has demonstrated entrepreneurship, innovation and initiative in starting or developing their own business, freelance career, trade or enterprise activity. £2000 to the winner. DOWNLOAD ENTRY FORM

BHA Development Award: recognising currently licensed jockeys who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to their personal and professional development while riding. £1000 to the winner, plus two £250 runner-up prizes. DOWNLOAD ENTRY FORM

HOW TO ENTER

Entries for this year's Awards, which take place on Tuesday 3rd November at Warwick Racecourse, opened on Monday 20th July. Entries are open until Friday 28th August and anyone wishing to enter can download the relevant entry form above with more details on the judging criteria. The Awards will take place on Tuesday 3rd November at Warwick Racecourse with a special ceremony and luncheon where the winners were presented with their trophies as part of a day dedicated to the Awards featuring films about the winners and the running of the JETS Richard Davis Awards Handicap Chase at Warwick.
